Why do I care?

Broken Arrow, Oklahoma, United States
I have worked with children and in public schools for 39 years. Even though I am retired, I am not finished until Oklahoma offers every child the opportunity for an excellent public school education.

Amen!!!!s

I attended the "49th is NOT OK" rally Thursday evening at Edison High School.  I could have shouted AMEN all night!   Teachers, principals, parents and students passionately spoke to legislators to start funding public education and quit playing politics!  AMEN!!!   There were four local legislators sitting together, just clapping and clapping....but they are not friends of public schools...they are just public faces who will clap and then go back to OKC to regular partisan politics.       Parents complained that their legislators said they never hear from parents.   They hear from teachers, but dismiss their pleas.  Parents!!!   Start calling!!!  In November vote for candidates who CARE about PUBLIC education!  Don't vote for a political party!  Vote for candidates who will stand up for public schools!  I was able to talk with a champion for kids...Rep. Jeannie McDaniel, who stood way on the other side of the room.   She does more than clap.  She is a common sense public servant who stands up for schools by her vote.  We have to have more representatives on her side!    I will be!
