Why I jumped

Why I jumped...
I feel passionately about public education . I believe it is the great equalizer in our country. I believe that our country's greatness depends upon public education's success.
I believe it is the right of every child in the United States to attend a free public school with professionals within offering that child a quality education which will allow him/her to mature into a productive, thinking citizen. I believe politicians in this state may say these words, but their actions tell a totally different story.
I have taught in public school in Oklahoma for thirty nine years and for all of those years have gone to the state capital to plead with politicians to make OK's public education the best in the nation. Year after year my plea has been dismissed or I was told "you just don't understand state government."    Oklahoma has cut about a billion dollars in taxes in the last few years with no replacement funds..declaring that businesses would flock to our state. These cuts have severely affected public schools. Oklahoma lawmakers are now working to put into effect even more tax cuts...with no replacement revenue....and having no idea of the cost and devastating effect to vital state services.
Governing the future of this state on a hunch is too radical to me. I believe that fiscal conservationism  has to be backed by sound economic policy...not guessing!

I say, ENOUGH! This crazy partisan governance has to stop! This is the main reason I am taking this leap...feet first!
